thisflow does not connect to Notion, but a Notion database exports as CSV, and thisflow's CSV import reads its columns by name. You see a preview first, nothing changes until you confirm, and your database in Notion stays as it is.

Export the database from Notion

In Notion, open the task database as a full page, open the ⋯ menu at the top right and choose Export. Pick Markdown & CSV as the format and export.

Notion gives you a zip file. Unzip it and find the CSV file with your database's name.

Get the columns ready

thisflow reads the columns it knows by their names, in English or Swedish, and skips the rest. Only a title column is required. The names it looks for include:

  • Title: Title, Name, Task, Task name or Summary.
  • Note: Notes, Description or Details.
  • Due date: Due, Due date, Date or Deadline.
  • Priority: Priority or Prio.
  • Tags: Tags or Labels.
  • Project: Project or List.
  • Section: Section, Column, Status or Group. If the file has more than one, thisflow reads only the first in that order.
  • Repeat: Repeat or Recurrence.

If a property has another name in Notion, rename it there before you export, or rename the column in a spreadsheet afterwards.

Add a Project column if the file has none. Without it every task goes to your Inbox, and since the Inbox has no sections, the statuses are left out with a note for each row. For a database that is one project, a column called Project with the same name on every row is enough.

Open Import in thisflow

Go to Settings → Data → Import, or press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux) and choose Import from Todoist or CSV. The page is called Import tasks.

Press Choose a file, or drop the CSV on the page. The preview shows CSV file under the file name.

Check the preview

Before anything is added, the preview shows what the file holds:

  • New projects and New sections that will be created.
  • Tasks and Recurring tasks. Comments stays at 0, because thisflow does not read comments from a CSV file.
  • A line with how many rows were already done and are left out.

If some rows could not be read fully, a note such as 2 rows need a look lists each row and why. If dates are listed there, fix them in the file and choose it again, so every task gets the right date. A row without a title is skipped.

Check New projects too. If your Project column is a relation in Notion, the file may hold more than the name, such as a link. If the project names look wrong, clean that column in a spreadsheet so it holds only the name.

If the numbers are not what you expected, press Choose another file. Otherwise press the import button, which shows the number of tasks, for example Import 42 tasks.

Know what comes along

Here is how the columns map to thisflow:

  • Title and note: as they are written.
  • Due date: dates such as 2026-10-24, 24/10/2026, 24.10.2026, 24 Oct 2026 and October 24, 2026, and phrases quick add understands, such as "tomorrow". Dates with slashes are read day first.
  • Priority: 1–4 or P1–P4, or a word: Urgent, Highest, Critical and High become P1, Medium and Normal P2, Low and Lowest P3. Anything else means no priority.
  • Tags: a comma-separated list becomes one tag for each value, in lower case.
  • Project: each name becomes a project, or joins the project you already have with that name.
  • Status: each status becomes a section in its project. Rows with the status Done, Complete, Completed, Closed or Resolved are left out.
  • Repeat: a phrase such as "every monday" makes the task repeat.

Some things stay behind:

  • The text inside each Notion page. Notion exports it as separate files, not in the CSV, so copy what you need into the task's note.
  • People columns. Every imported task is assigned to you.
  • Sub-items and relations between tasks. Every row becomes a task of its own.
  • Files, comments and any other properties.

Import the tasks

Press Import 42 tasks (with your number). thisflow adds everything in one go and opens the project (or your Inbox, when the tasks went to several projects or none), and a message confirms how many tasks were imported. If something looks wrong, press Undo in that message to take the whole import back.

Check the result

Open the project and look it over:

  • Switch to Board to see the statuses as columns. The same tasks show in List and Calendar; see Kanban boards.
  • Open a few tasks in the side panel and check notes, tags and dates.
  • Every new project also gets a Done section at the end, and a To do section if the file gave it none. When you complete a task, it moves to Done.
  • New projects are created in your personal workspace. To work on one together, share it: see Share a project and pick roles.

Everything went to my Inbox. Why?

The file has no column called Project or List, so thisflow had nowhere else to put the tasks. Press Undo, add a Project column, and import the file again.

Why are some rows missing?

Rows whose status says they are done are left out, and the preview counts them. A row without a title is skipped, and the note under the preview names its row.

Does thisflow stay in sync with Notion?

No. The import is a one-time copy, and nothing links the two afterwards.

What happens if I import the same file twice?

You get the tasks twice. Projects and sections are reused by name, but every row is added again. Press Undo right after an import you did not mean to make. For a side-by-side look at the two tools, see thisflow vs Notion.
