You can bring your ClickUp Lists to thisflow with ClickUp's CSV export. thisflow shows a preview first, nothing changes until you confirm, and your Workspace in ClickUp stays as it is.
Export the tasks from ClickUp
In ClickUp, open the List you want to move, or a Folder or Space to take all of its Lists at once. Open the view's ⋯ menu, choose to export the view, and pick CSV with all columns. All columns matter: thisflow needs the List name, the status and the parent task from the file.
The import page in thisflow has the same hint under How to export from your current tool.
Open Import in thisflow
Go to Settings → Data → Import, or press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux) and choose Import from Todoist or CSV. The page is called Import tasks.
Press Choose a file, or drop the CSV on the page. thisflow recognises the file by its columns, and the preview shows ClickUp export under the file name.
Check the preview
Before anything is added, the preview shows what the file holds:
- New projects: one for each List in the file.
- New sections: one for each status in use.
- Tasks, with how many of them are subtasks.
- Recurring and Comments. Both stay at 0 for a ClickUp file, because thisflow does not read repeats or comments from it.
- A line with how many tasks were already closed and are left out.
If some rows could not be read fully, a note such as 2 rows need a look lists each row and why. If dates are listed there, fix them in the file and choose it again, so every task gets the right date. A row with no task name is skipped.
If the numbers are not what you expected, press Choose another file. Otherwise press the import button, which shows the number of tasks, for example Import 42 tasks.
Know what comes along
Here is how ClickUp maps to thisflow:
- Lists: each List becomes a project with its name. A task without a List name goes into a project named after its Folder, or else its Space. If you already have a project with the same name, the tasks go into it instead.
- Statuses: each status becomes a section with the same name, so a List keeps its stages as board columns.
- Tasks and descriptions: each task keeps its name as the title, and its description becomes the note.
- Subtasks: become subtasks, in their parent's section. thisflow keeps one level, so a subtask of a subtask goes under the task at the top, and the preview says so.
- Assignees: every assignee with the same name in thisflow is assigned. A task with no match is assigned to you.
- Priority: Urgent becomes P1, High P2, and Normal and Low P3. Tasks without a priority stay without one.
- Tags: become tags, in lower case.
- Due dates: kept as the due date, without the time of day.
Some things stay behind:
- Tasks in a closed status: complete, completed, closed or done. If finished work has another status name, such as "shipped", its tasks come in as open tasks in a section with that name.
- Checklists, comments, attachments, time tracking, estimates, start dates, custom fields and repeat settings.
Import the tasks
Press Import 42 tasks (with your number). thisflow adds everything in one go and opens the project (or your Inbox, when the file filled several projects), and a message confirms how many tasks were imported. If something looks wrong, press Undo in that message to take the whole import back.
Check the result
Open a project and look it over:
- Switch to Board to see your statuses as columns. The same tasks show in List and Calendar; see Kanban boards.
- Open a few tasks in the side panel and check notes, subtasks, tags and dates.
- Every new project also gets a Done section at the end. When you complete a task, it moves there.
- New projects are created in your personal workspace. To work on one together, share it: see Share a project and pick roles.
Why did a task I had finished come in as open?
thisflow leaves out tasks whose status is complete, completed, closed or done. If your List uses another name for finished work, those tasks come in under a section with that name. Complete them in thisflow, and they move to Done.
Where are my checklists and comments?
They are not imported from ClickUp's CSV. If a checklist matters, add its items as subtasks in the task panel.
Can I move a whole Space?
Yes. Export the Space, and each List in the file becomes its own project. Lists with the same name in different Folders end up in one project, so rename one of them in ClickUp first if you want to keep them apart.
What happens if I import the same file twice?
You get the tasks twice. Projects and sections are reused by name, but every task is added again. Press Undo right after an import you did not mean to make. For a side-by-side look at the two tools, see thisflow vs ClickUp.
