thisflow does not connect to Jira, but Jira exports issues as CSV, and thisflow's CSV import reads its columns by name. You see a preview first, nothing changes until you confirm, and your issues in Jira stay as they are.
Export the issues from Jira
In Jira, search for the issues you want to move, for example every open issue in one project. Open Export above the results and choose one of the CSV options. Save the file.
Export one project at a time if you can: it makes the next step quicker.
Get the columns ready
thisflow reads these columns from Jira's file by their names and skips the rest: Summary, Description, Status, Priority, Labels and Due date. Open the file in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets and fix three things before you import:
- Project: thisflow looks for a column called Project. Jira writes the project in a column with another name, such as Project name, so rename that column to Project. Without it every issue goes to your Inbox, and since the Inbox has no sections, the statuses are left out with a note for each row.
- Labels: when issues have several labels, Jira can write them in several columns that are all called Labels. thisflow reads only the last of those, so merge them into one Labels column with the labels separated by commas.
- Due date: Jira writes dates in the format your Jira site is set up with. thisflow reads dates such as 2026-10-24, 24/10/2026, 24.10.2026 and 24 Oct 2026, with slashes read day first. If the preview says it could not read the dates, change the column to one of those formats.
Then save it as CSV. A Swedish Excel writes semicolons instead of commas, and thisflow reads both.
Open Import in thisflow
Go to Settings → Data → Import, or press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux) and choose Import from Todoist or CSV. The page is called Import tasks.
Press Choose a file, or drop the CSV on the page. The preview shows CSV file under the file name.
Check the preview
Before anything is added, the preview shows what the file holds:
- New projects and New sections that will be created.
- Tasks. Comments stays at 0, because thisflow does not read comments from a CSV file.
- A line with how many issues were already done and are left out.
If some rows could not be read fully, a note such as 2 rows need a look lists each row and why. If dates are listed there, fix them in the file and choose it again, so every issue gets the right date. A row without a summary is skipped. A note on every row that the Inbox has no sections means the Project column is missing.
If the numbers are not what you expected, press Choose another file. Otherwise press the import button, which shows the number of tasks, for example Import 42 tasks.
Know what comes along
Here is how Jira's columns map to thisflow:
- Summary: becomes the title, and Description the note.
- Project: each name becomes a project, or joins the project you already have with that name.
- Status: each status becomes a section in its project, such as To Do and In Progress. Issues with the status Done, Closed or Resolved are left out.
- Priority: Highest and High become P1, Medium P2, and Low and Lowest P3.
- Labels: become tags, in lower case.
- Due date: kept as the due date.
Some things stay behind:
- Sub-tasks and epics come in as ordinary tasks: the CSV import makes no subtasks.
- Assignees and reporters. Every imported task is assigned to you.
- Comments, attachments, sprints, story points, components, versions, links between issues and custom fields.
Import the issues
Press Import 42 tasks (with your number). thisflow adds everything in one go and opens the project (or your Inbox, when the issues went to several projects or none), and a message confirms how many tasks were imported. If something looks wrong, press Undo in that message to take the whole import back.
Check the result
Open the project and look it over:
- Switch to Board to see the statuses as columns. The same tasks show in List and Calendar; see Kanban boards.
- Open a few tasks in the side panel and check notes, tags and dates.
- Every new project also gets a Done section at the end. When you complete a task, it moves there.
- New projects are created in your personal workspace. To work on one together, share it and assign the tasks again: see Share a project and pick roles.
Everything went to my Inbox, with a note on every row. Why?
The file has no column called Project, so thisflow had nowhere else to put the issues, and the Inbox has no sections for the statuses. Press Undo, rename the project column to Project, and import the file again.
Why do some issues have no tags, or only one?
Jira wrote the labels in several columns with the same name, and thisflow read only the last one. Merge them into one Labels column, separated by commas, and import again.
Does thisflow stay in sync with Jira?
No. The import is a one-time copy, and nothing links the two afterwards.
What happens if I import the same file twice?
You get the issues twice. Projects and sections are reused by name, but every row is added again. Press Undo right after an import you did not mean to make.
